The Southern Illinois Ice Hawks are proud to announce the hiring of Dylan Mueth as our new Director of Player Development. Dylan, a former Ice Hawk, began playing for the club almost two decades ago. He is a recent graduate of McKendree University where he earned his Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration and his Bachelors in Physical Education. During his time playing for McKendree Dylan scored 169 points (98 goals and 71 assists) over four years. As the Captain of the team he lead the Bearcats back to the ACHA National Tournament.
"I cannot express how excited I am to have Dylan back in the organization" stated Jason Power, Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations for the club. "I had the pleasure to coach Dylan well over a decade ago when he was playing Peewees. It was apparent he was a leader at the age of 13 and looks like things didn't change."
"I am ecstatic to get back involved," Said Mueth. "It has been something I have been passionate about getting into for years and when Coach Power reached out to me last year to help with Floor Hockey I knew this was the direction to head."
Dylan will begin his work with the Ice Hawks immediately as he will assist in Pre Skates and Tryouts. Along with Power he will take on the every growing Floor Hockey campaigns and be the leader on our new Learn To Play Program. Dylan and his staff will also assist in the player development ice times the club started last year. "The opportunities are endless in terms of involvement with the club. I have reached out to friends of mine I have played with over the years and many have expressed interest in assisting as the club is a transitional year."
The transition Dylan refers to is the club moving into their new home facility, the McKendree Metro Rec Plex. The Ice Hawks have been without a home for a few years now as the US Ice Sports Complex collapsed due to mine subsidence. "That had a major impact on the sport in our area," explaing Dylan. "That was my home I grew up in playing for this club so a lot of memories are tied up there. However as we grow older new chapters begin. I am extremely excited to help write the new chapter in Ice Hawks history as we move into a new home".
"The Ice Hawks have so many new programs in the works it is incredible. From floor hockey to the return of our very own Learn To Play all directions point to growth. I am most excited for the new House Program that we plan to start next season for kids new into the game and very low price point."
"I have been looking for a couple of years for someone who was as passionate about the game of hockey as well education and Dylan literally fell back into my lap. I look forward to him being involved with the club for literally years. The club is now stronger with this hiring without question" said Power.
Come meet Dylan at preskates and tryouts as he is looking forward to helping contribute to the E.D.G.E philosophy on all facets.
